Genes and enzymes in man.

چکیده

If as is now thought most genes achieve their effects by directing the synthesis of enzymes, genetic variation will be largely reflected by enzyme diversity. Such enzyme diversity in human populations is illustrated by studies on the recently dis covered genetically determined polymorphisms involving red cell acid phosphatase, phosphoglucomutase, adenylate kinase, and placental alkaline phosphatase. Three of these polymor phisms were discovered in the course of investigating some 10 arbitrarily chosen enzymes in none of which there was any a priori reason to expect any degree of genetically determined variation. The findings thus suggest that genetically determined polymorphism may be a feature of a substantial number of human enzymes. They also indicate that there exists a very high degree of individuality in the enzymic constitution of normal and healthy people.

Gastric duplication cysts comprise 2-7% of gastrointestinal duplications, rare congenital malformations that can be present at almost any part of the alimentary tract. They mostly present with gastrointestinal obstruction symptoms, ulceration, and painless hemorrhage. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, and fullness sensation. Gastric duplications are mostly cystic in shape. Herein, we present a...

Prevalence of Genes Encoding Aminoglycoside Modifying Enzymes in Clinical Isolates of Klebsiella Pneumoniae in the Hospitals of Borujerd

Background and Aims: Given the importance of aminoglycoside resistance in nosocomial and community infections caused by bacterial pathogenes such as Klebsiella pneumoniae (K. pneumoniae), the aim of this study was to determine the frequency of aac (6')- Ib and aac (3)- IIa, the genes encoding aminoglycoside modifying enzymes involved in aminoglycoside resistance. Material and Methods: A t...

Detection of tetracycline resistance genes, aminoglycoside modifying enzymes, and coagulase gene typing of clinical isolates of Staphylococcus aureus in the Southwest of Iran

Objective(s): The aim of the present study was to determine the aminoglycoside modifying enzymes (AMEs) encoded genes, tetracycline resistance genes, and the coa based typing of Staphylococcus aureus isolates in the Southwest of Iran. Materials and Methods: Antimicrobial susceptibility of isolates was carried out by agar disk diffusion methods. Two sets of multiplex PCR mixture were used for de...

The effect of salicylic acid and jasmonic acid on the symptoms of the disease and the expression of defense genes on a greenhouse cucumber infected with CMV

Cucumber is one of the most important vegetable and summer crops economically and is the fourth most cultivated plant in the world after tomatoes and potatoes. In this study, the effect of plant inducers including salicylic acid and jasmonic acid on the viral disease of greenhouse cucumber with Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) and also the expression of defense genes was investigated. Treatments inc...

P-239: NGS Mapping Breakpoints of a Familial Chromosome Insertion (18:7) (q22.1; q36.2 q21.11) to DPP6 and CACNA2D1 Genes in An Azoospermic Man

Background: Aberrant chromosomes can cause azoospermia but little is known about its molecular mechanism. Our aim is to explore any possible genetic defective to explain a given male infertility. Materials and Methods: An azoopsermic male was identified in a 23 years old male. G-banding and FISH confirmed the karyotype as chromosome insertion (18:7) (q22.1; q36.2q21.11). NGS was performed to an...

Presence of multi-drug resistant pathogenic Escherichia coli in Zarjob River located in The State of Guilan, Iran

In modern medical processes, new antimicrobial drugs are being widely used in order to rapid and essential eradication of resistant bacterial strains. Broad-spectrum beta-lactamases are enzymes originated from mutations in the common plasmid genes mediators for beta-lactamases such as TEM-1, TEM-2, and SHV-1 are transferred among bacterial species. The genes coding the production of ESBL are of...
